Benedict Luxmoore
Benedict Luxmoore has photographed architecture and interiors for over thirty years, for
architects, engineers, housing developers and construction firms.
He’s chosen this image because it’s light-hearted – and a complete stroke of luck. He was
photographing the library exterior to the side of this scene, at Southmere Village in
Thamesmead. It’s an estate regeneration designed by Mecanoo and Proctor and Matthews
for Peabody. Only when he returned to his office to work on the images did he realise that
he caught the jumping boy, and his shadow, exactly in the centre of the another shadow
from a building behind.
